How Could You Forget These first-rate Toys?

What can you remember?

Depending on how old you are you will most likely have a very distinct answer. If you are in your 70s you will have a very distinct rejoinder than if you are in your 20s. Excellent toys are ones which had a big impact on lots of children colse to distinct generations and can still be remembered today. Here is a look at some of the classics from distinct generations.

Kid Barbie Dolls

1920s - Teddy Bear

If you were a child in the 1920s then that would make you somewhere colse to 80 years old now. With recognisable ranges of toys only just taking shape the chances are that you would have had one of the first Teddy Bears. These were loved by many children and came about after advancements in former doll manufacturing technologies.

1940s - Board Games

In the 1930s and 40s, board games grew in popularity as games for the whole family that could also be mass produced in factories met the needs of games companies, parents as well as children. If you were a child in the 40s chances are you would have played games like Monopoly, Scrabble and Cluedo.

1960s - Barbie and Gi Joe

While Barbie was a hit in the 1950s (launched in 1959) her boy's alternative didn't arrive until the 1960s. These figures with all their accessories were a big hit with kids that just grew in popularity over time. Barbie spoke to girls of a wide range of ages as did Gi Joe who came out at the excellent time when Vietnam and the troops were on the minds of many young people.

1980s - Nintendo

The get underway of the first of the mega popular computer games consoles to hit the market in the shape of the Nintendo in 1983. This along with its biggest hit Super Mario Bros. And eventually the Game Boy in 1989 made this decade heavy for the computer gaming industry. If you were a child in the 80s chances are you had a Nintendo (or maybe a Sega). This is a long way from the handcrafted wooden toys of the pre-war periods, though kid's bookshelves for example are hopefully still helping kids to read and haven't so far been supplanted by digital versions.

1990s - Beany Babies

Children went mad in the 90s for Beany Babies along with many other fad toys but Beany Babies unmistakably stood out as a super craze with prices now wholly insane and way beyond any child's pocket money advance limit. Computer consoles were well and truly in full swing too while this decade and have pretty much remained the so ever since.
